“The rainy season is officially here. Do you live in a place with a rainy season? I don’t mean the occasional thunderstorm. We’re talking about near constant rain for weeks. It certainly makes me less interested in leaving the house. But between the cheerful umbrella displays in department stores and getting to wear colorful raincoats and boots, I think I’ll survive.”
*Printing this out as we speak. (Or so the phrase goes. I suppose we’re not actually speaking, but “as I type” sounded silly). Not only is the concept of a “How to Summer” list fantastic, but the design is just perfect.
*This watermelon “cake” is happening this summer. Not while I’m in Japan, since a whole watermelon costs about $30 for a small one! But definitely when I head home to Ohio in August, where you can hardly give away watermelon.
*Masculine wrapping paper is getting easier to find, but why buy when you can make your own? This suite of printable Father’s Day gift wrap and tags gives you several options to pick something that suits your dad specifically.

“While out to dinner with visiting out-of-towners last night, we were surprised to have an extremely awkward service experience. The waitress took our orders one person at a time, but not in the way you think. One person got a cocktail and then she would walk away and show up several minutes later to take another person’s appetizer order. The food and company were fantastic, but we all ended up eating different courses at different times and it was pretty jarring. Yelp reviews didn’t indicate any sort of service problems, but do you have any tips for dealing with this situation? I keep wondering if there was something we could have done or said!”
* This week’s favorite Etsy shop award goes to The Paper Cub, a shop full of adorable greeting cards! I especially love the collection of state postcards, like this graphic cutie of New Hampshire.
*Super loving this DIY Personalized Magnetic Chalkboard! It’s the perfect item for making use of all your favorite ways to plan, plus it looks pretty. Good combo.
*I love the idea of mixing a touch of savory into a sweet cake and since I adore lemon, I’m so excited to try this Lemon Thyme Cake!
