Alyssa's Week

koi and fall leaves in Nikko from www.alyssaandcarla.com

“It’s definitely fall here in Tokyo now.  The weather has turned chilly (no more random 80 degree days), the sun sets significantly earlier and the leaves are changing. We took a trip farther north to see the spectacular reds of Japanese maples and yellows of gingko trees.  They complement elaborate, colorful temples and serene gardens with ponds, set against the backdrops of beautiful mountains of Nikko.

We’re eating apple pie, milk-braised pork, and sweet potato dumplings to keep ourselves warm.”

*17 ways to stuff a sweet potato. #10 is right up my alley.

*Tiny origami santas!

*Just delightful. I want to paint fun things in thrift store paintings now too!

Carla's Week

Carla's Weekly Love Letter for 11.7.14“Daylight Savings Time.  MAN.  I know this is supposed to be the “good” season for the time change, but am I the only person who feels like it’s not an extra hour of sleep?  I’ve been exhausted all week!  On top of that, I think my body is confused: I’ve been battling this low-grade ick feeling for the past several days.  Here’s hoping a weekend in sunny San Luis Obispo will be exactly what I need to finally get into a better rhythm.  I’m crossing my fingers.”

*Nutty and Fudgy Almond Butter Granola Bars.  I love every single word in this title.

* In the category of “Things Carla Is Not Good At”, may I present: 21 Perfectly Nice Ways to Say No

* Geometric Cake toppers.  The kind of photo you see and wonder if you somehow made and photographed in your sleep because it’s so YOU.

We LOVE reading Yes and Yes, and we were so excited when Sarah included our DIY cocktail umbrellas in her Web Time Wasters.

Shelterness did a great roundup of 13 Easy and Cool DIY Christmas Gifts for Boys and included our DIY wire star ornament.
