Mexican Chocolate Milkshakes

March 9, 2015 by Carla

I’m a girl who likes candy.  Like, in a major way.  I don’t even discriminate: bring me the fruity kind, the chocolate-y kind, the nutty kind, the crispy kind.  I’m equal opportunity. You know what’s even better than candy?  Dessert *with* candy.  A two-for-one, if you will.

I think that’s a good enough reason for me to create a ridiculously creamy and tasty mexican chocolate milkshake topped with crunchy candy, don’t you?  With M&M’s® Crispy back (due to popular demand), I marched right down to the store and grabbed two packs: one small bag for work and one big bag (for my milkshakes!  I had Plans.)  I had never tried these candies before, but I was intrigued since everyone else seems to love them.  And they did NOT disappoint.  These candies are so crispy, yet still chocolate-y- a great mix of crunch and melt in your mouth.  A perfect match for milkshakes!

To get started, I grabbed some Mexican chocolate rounds and some cream.  Mm.  Cream.

The first step in this recipe is to make Mexican chocolate sauce.  And it’s the EASIEST sauce ever: two ingredients, one small saucepan and one whisk.

Ingredients
  1. one and a half rounds of Mexican chocolate
  2. one cup cream
Instructions
  1. Add both ingredients to a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk gently until the chocolate is melted and incorporated into the cream.
Notes
  1. This sauce is best used while warm, but also definitely works at room temperature. It will harden as it cools, but pop it in the microwave for 20 seconds and it will be good as new!

Once your sauce is cooled a bit, it’s simple.  Crush a handful of the M&M’s® Crispy candies and get your blender ready.

 Holy milkshake, Batman.

This milkshake is DELICIOUS.  For a variation that’s killer, add ANOTHER handful of M&M’s® right into the cup before pouring the milkshake in and stir together a bit.  That way you get LOTS of crunch with every bite.  (You might need a spoon.)

What do you make with Mexican chocolate?  I have a chocolate few rounds left and I need some inspiration!

Carla! I had to read this post after seeing the pic on IG. This is a party in a glass, right here. Looks & sounds really fun, but the best part about this write up is the photo locator in the candy aisle and CVS coupon. Genius.
